Do you have any idea just how powerful you are? How you breathe, what you think, choose to say and do matter a magnificent amount. Your thoughts, words and deeds have the potential to ripple out into the world further than you may ever know. And once done, you are bound by those actions. You cannot unthink what's already been thought. You can't unsay what's already been said. You can't take back an action. And in every single moment, you are making an offering to yourself and this world that echos out and leaves a mark. So let's get radically clear what our actions are bound to, peace or pain. And then make the courageous choice to be in peace on purpose.
This morning, 10s if not 100s of thousands of people around the world gathered to meditate on peace. All of us dedicating our thoughts and our actions to peace, to see what can be done when we come together in our power and bind it to peace. May the prayer continue.
To all those who participated and to all those who didn't:
What if each and every one of us really knew the extent of our own power?
What if we knew, really knew, that one simple smile could change the course of a day, even a life?
What if we knew that a clear and easy presence was the difference between moments claimed and a life defined or moments missed and a life that slips unconsciously past?
What if we knew the power of our eyes to truly see. And in that seeing could project a gaze that says, "I understand. I understand myself, beyond judgement and so I understand you. I understand all the 7 billion angels that I walk among on this earth. I understand that life is good and life is hard. I know, I truly understand and I empathize."
What if the kindness of a small gesture knew no bounds in the infinite game of paying it forward? How far does that reach?
What if we knew the sweetness of a kind word spoken could echo through the sands of time. We only have to look to our children and remember our mothers and fathers to know, that either one harsh word or one "I love you" that was spoken hundreds of years ago, has been inherited by the present, graces us now and may have at least 1,000 more years to go.
What if we had the power at any moment to connect - connect to our own body, mind, heart and soul? And from there could reach out a hand to all who pass through our lives and connect beyond right and wrong, good and bad, age and race, time and place? What if we could connect fear with grace, so that our love would always be greater than our suffering?
What if we knew we were beautiful beyond the bounds of our skin, strong beyond the bounds of our muscles, courageous beyond the bounds of doubt and peaceful beyond the excuse of any circumstance?
What if that peace was the undercurrent of your thoughts, flowing over into your words, pouring out into your actions, creating the tides of your life? What does that feel like embodied? What does that look like in your life? How does it touch your relationships? Who does it reach? How far does it go?
What if those who were touched by your peace allowed it to overflow out into their lives? Who does that touch? Where does it reach?
What if those 10s, or 100s of thousands of meditators today, dedicated themselves to continuing the commitment? How expansive is that reach now?
What if the millions of yogis throughout the world were truly dedicated to being in peace, on purpose, long-term? (it is one of the 1st commitments we make as yogis to ourselves and this world afterall...) What does the face of the world look like then?
I understand that this path of peace is not the path of least resistance. It is so much easier to simply act out in anger and demand to be right. But with this vision of millions, with peace in our hearts and power in our souls, I ask you, is it worth it?
So I speak to all of the livers and all of the lovers of life when I say, "The time is now and we are the ones. World peace begins with you right now, that's exactly how amazingly important you are. What can you do right now to be peace, on purpose, with power?"
